Mr. Tim FitzHigham, a successful ‘stand-up’ comedian, raised a great deal of money for a charity in 2005 by rowing a Thomas Crapper copper bath across the English Channel. The authorities forced him to mount it on two thin hulls for stability, so he took the opportunity to add a black & white tiled floor, an enormous brass shower and a pair of brass bath taps mounted on a wash-stand!
He was nearly killed in a violent storm during his first attempt in 2004, yet he was determined to try again. On hearing this, the Managing Director of Crapper & Co. promised to name a loo pan in Tim’s honour if he succeeded in crossing the Channel. He did, and here it is!
The pan is in every other respect identical to our ‘Venerable’ bowl, but the additional transfers (designed by Tim) commemorate this noble yet foolish enterprise. See some of the story in our ‘News’ section
(click here) and also read ‘In the Bath’, Tim’s book, which tells the story in detail. (Now re-published under the title 'All at Sea').
The ‘FitzHigham’ W.C. is the same price as our ‘Venerable’ closet, but we will donate half the price of each loo pan to Tim’s charity, Comic Relief.
